Are you languishing?

Jun 08, 2021

Adam Grant hits it out the ball park in his most recent New York Times article:

There’s a Name for the Blah You’re Feeling: It’s Called Languishing: the neglected middle child of mental health can dull your motivation and focus -- and it may be the dominant emotion of 2021.

e shares, "Languishing is a sense of stagnation and emptiness. It feels as if you’re muddling through your days, looking at your life through a foggy windshield. And it might be the dominant emotion of 2021." #nailedit

I love my business.

I am proud of my business.

I adore serving clients.

But more days than usual I have woken unmotivated.

I wake confused as to how I should show up.

I don't feel depressed.

I am not burnt out.

I am just feeling rather neutral.

I now know I have been languishing...

"Languishing dulls your motivation, disrupts your ability to focus, and triples the odds that you’ll cut back on work."

Ouch. #calledout

I teach my clients the importance of naming their feelings. Before we can identify what thought is creating your results we need to be clear about what feeling the thought is creating. This can be challenging for many. I get it. Feelings go far beyond sad, glad, happy, mad.

And, when you know exactly what you are feeling you can more easily get unstuck, make shifts, take deliberate action.

So, I do not live in languish.

But, now when it creeps in I know what to do.

I know what to think.

I know how to welcome it, but ask it to sit in the passenger seat, not the drivers seat.

I've got a business to run.

I have high achievers to serve.

I have a mission to fulfill.

i will not be seduced by languishing.

I will see it, name it and hijack it.

Want to learn how? I will walk you through just what I am doing to counter this now familiar feeling. And, teach you how to do the same.

Just reply to this message.

We are nearly half way through 2021.

'What do you want your predominant feeling to be for the remaining months?

You get to choose.

So, choose deliberately.

Hugs,

Kristin
